The problem of lack of control over what children are consuming at school is a common concern faced by many parents. Often, the "give the money, and that's it" approach to kids buying snacks from the canteen can lead to unhealthy food choices and even overspending. With this situation in mind, we designed the Canteen Control System.
At the center of this proposal is the application for mobile devices, created especially for parents or guardians. This application acts as a management hub, allowing parents to set daily or weekly limits on snacking and select which foods will be available for their children to choose from in the canteen. This ensures that parents maintain active control over their children's food choices, encouraging healthy habits.
In the canteen itself, the "vending machine" takes on a central role. Equipped with biometric identification technology or facial recognition, it allows students to authenticate quickly and securely. Once authenticated, students can choose from available snacks, which have already been pre-determined by parents in the app.
Payment is completely integrated into the system. The values of the chosen snacks are automatically deducted from the balance available in the parent's app, eliminating the need for the child to handle cash or cards.
